The award is named UN NGO medal of Ruby award and UN NGO sapphire award. it is given to those individuals who have rendered lifetime service for propagation of peace through out the world.

Dr. S.S Mohapatra (Member of Parliament Loksabha and Rajyasabha), Received golden peace prize from Soka University, Japan, 2001. The award was given in consideration for his life time contribution to establish peace in the world. He was the recommended for the award by the chief of Soka Gaggai Mr. Daisaku Ikkada and 87 world leaders including Presidents and Prime minister of various countries.
